Welcome to the Office of the Ombudsman's website. The Office of the Ombudsman is an impartial and independent office established under the Ombudsman's Act 1984 and is headed by the Ombudsman who is an officer of and responsible to Parliament by virtue of Section 3(1) of the Act.

Purpose

To provide a service to the public that is targeted towards ensuring, enhancing and edifying "Good Governance"-

  • Through the investigation of complaints relating to matters of government administration received from members of the public
  • Where evidence of corruption or suspected criminal activity is found, to refer such matters to the relevant law enforcement agencies
  • Where evidence of maladministration is found, provide recommendations that will resolve or address deficiencies

Our offices are located in Avatiu just across the road from the Punaganui Market Place. We are housed on the 2nd floor of Ingram House. Our office is open from 8am - 4pm, Monday to Friday.
